There's nothing better than an afternoon spent taking pictures on a beautiful day, if you ask me. Cidney had the day off from her normal busy schedule, so we easily decided on a rendezvous overlooking the city. Some of my most favorite moments are spent behind the lens of a camera, and it's such a wonderful feeling being able to share that same passion with a dear friend; it's an effortless connection. Although the gloomy weather today didn't serve quite as "photo-friendly", I am crossing my fingers for an opportunity to shoot some more tomorrow. In the meantime, I'm bringing this evening to a close with some " Rachel Zoe Project", and snuggle time with my Cee-Cee.

Candy and Kiddos

Since there aren't any Sutton kiddos running around just yet, we played pretend parents for a night and took our little buddy Brian out for his first official "trick-or-treating". Brian's family owns the restaurant next door to our favorite coffee spot, so over the years he's become everyone's buddy. He was overwhelmed with excitement at the idea of receiving loads of free candy, and giggling at all the fellow kiddos in their costumes.
It was such a treat (no pun intended) seeing his face light up at each and every house, and watching him smile as his little pumpkin got heavier and heavier with all of the goodies! He was the perfect kiddo to take "Trick-or-Treating", and I'm so happy I was there to witness it!

Girls Night In:Skulls and Snickerdoodles

I've never been a huge Halloween fanatic, but any excuse to make tasty treats and hang out with some close friends is enough reason to celebrate! I invited a few of my girlfriends over Friday night, to stuff our faces with spooky snickerdoodle cupcakes, and to watch the hilarious comedy, "Bridesmaids". It was a lovely change of pace, from the usual coffee shop hang out, and it gave me the chance to try out an awesome new cupcake recipe!

With the big HALL-O-WEEN right around the corner, I've been indulging in more chocolate than I'm willing to admit, plus I've been blessed with a weekend full of time with the hubby! Tomorrows festivities include some first time trick-or-treating with my little buddy Brian,homemade candy making, time with my girl Alexis,and a showing of "Rosemary's Baby"(also my favorite movie of ALL TIME!).

This Weekend: Thus Far

So far this weekend has been quite the delight, spending quality time with the husband and close friends. Yesterday Chris and I met up with some lovely company at "Benihanas" to celebrate our friend Melissa's 22nd birthday! It's been a few years since I last had the chance to eat there, but I never lost the craving for their hibachi fried rice; plus I enjoyed introducing Chris to something he had never tried before.

          Although it was a bit over-crowded for my liking, we stuffed our faces with amazing food and surprised Melissa in the process! To further show our love, we headed back to Alexis's house to treat the birthday girl to homemade desserts, and gifts. I was so blessed Chris was home to tag along, and to spend all night with some incredible, and talented people. The night came to a close with Chris and Alexis showing off their musical talents with some beautiful duets, and a couple of acoustic covers of Johnny Cash. The entire night was simply beautiful, and I was extremely grateful we were able to make Melissa's day so special, because she is one awesome chick. SWOON*

 Although I had to say goodbye to Chris for yet another weekend apart, I was able to keep busy with all of today's gush-worthy activities. What began with a refreshing morning run, followed by lots of time with my gal Cidney. We met up for coffee, and then reunited with one of our favorite local thrift shops, after a sad period of time apart. Even though it was hectic, we made our way through the crowds and ended up with some great finds (which I will be sure to showcase in a later entry!).All of that browsing sure worked up an appetite, so I decided it was time to introduce Cid to one of mine and Chris's favorite spots; "Aladdin's Eatery"(which I've mentioned in previous posts) Needless to say, it was a big hit with Cid, and it was also the perfect opportunity to spend a little bit of time with Chris before he headed off to drill.Once our bellies were full, we couldn't allow the sun to set without some time behind the lens, so we made a quick detour and captured some lovely shots minutes before an unexpected downpour.

Now that editing is all finished, and I've retired to my sweats, my eyes grow weak and my bed calls my name. But first, a quick phone call with the hubby, as "Balck Swan" plays in the background, and I anticipate a day tomorrow just as wonderful as this one.

Siderodromophobia

It may be hard to believe , but despite the abundance of  photos flooding my computer, I tend to be quite awkward in front of the lens (hints why the self timer is such a gem!). Shyness overwhelms my character, so it helps to have artistically inclined friends, who not only channel a unique sense of creativity, but help me appear to be semi-photogenic! Chaz Chew is one of those in which I speak, and together we have a similar "eye" behind the camera. For the both of us. impromptu photo shoots have become a necessity, and more importantly the perfect distraction on any given day. Although I thought my ongoing addiction to java was shameful, I find myself a bit anxious if I don't have a camera in hand, and subject matter in which to capture at my finger tips.

This afternoon,Chaz and I made our way down to "Ault Park", with a promise of a  perfect backdrop in mind; I was then introduced to a rusty, graffiti bled train track, ready for it's close-up.

Even though wearing pantie hose, may be asking for curious stares, from avid fitness passer byes, the outcome was beautiful. Just two close friends swallowed by mother nature, with a camera in hand; what gets better?

 

Fall is in the air...and in my food!

Over the weekend, I desired a new desination of flavor and had just the place in mind. Although i had never personally explored  "Banana Leaf", I had heard charming reviews, and decided to see for myself. 

As I began perusing the menu, I immediately focused my eyes on the "Citrus Infused Pumpkin Curry",which is one of their "Fall specials". Filled with carrots, pumpkin squash, basil, coconut milk, and tofu, my taste buds couldn't get enough; not to mention the presentation of the dish itself!

Chaz decided on the "King Cobra", which was not only a meal but an art project, also! Filling each Belgian endive boat with a variety of individual ingredients, when mixed create an even stronger kick of  flavor.  

Who said you weren't allowed to play with your food!?

It was such a wonderful new discovery, and is now on the top of my list for "best curry". Chaz and I had so much fun, I'm already counting down the days until I can visit again!
